This is not a personal experience group or a peer support circle. The Stepmom Retreat is led by Cameron Normand — founder of the Stepfamily Coach Academy, the gold standard in stepfamily coaching.
Close your eyes for a second
Your toes in the sand on a Florida beach. The sound of the Gulf outside. A room full of women who know, without you saying a word, exactly what your life feels like.
No explaining yourself. No managing anyone else's feelings. No performing. Just you, fully present, in a space built entirely around what you need.
No managing the texts from his ex. No bracing yourself every time the phone buzzes. No tiptoeing around the dinner table. Just three days where the only thing being asked of you is to show up. Exactly as you are.
That is what we're building in Siesta Key.
The Shift
When you arrive
Walking on eggshells in your own home
Exhausted from keeping everything peaceful
Feeling like no one around you really understands
Stuck between "just the wife" and "second mom" — and exhausted by both
You've read everything and still don't feel settled
When you leave
Clear on what your role actually is — and what it isn't
Equipped with real tools grounded in research
Supported by women who truly get it
Steady in yourself — not because life got easier, but because you stopped questioning your worth in it
Ready to go home and actually do something different
"I came in feeling stuck, stressed, and like I'd been on a hamster wheel for years. I left with something I didn't expect: a sense of possibility and forward motion. If you can do it, do it."
— Renee, Retreat Attendee
Where You're Headed
A stunning private waterfront residence on the Gulf side of Siesta Key — just 30 minutes from Sarasota (SRQ) Airport. This is where all retreat programming, meals, and experiences take place. Private pool. Breathtaking Gulf views. Outdoor dining and lounge areas. The kind of setting that makes it very easy to do the work and equally easy to exhale.
Once you arrive, your only job is to be here.

By Saturday evening, something will have shifted.
Sunday, November 8th · Integration & Send-Off
Taking It Home With You
Sunday morning is where it all lands. Deep coaching, personal reflection, and the real work of figuring out what actually changes when you walk back through your front door. Cameron helps you build a clear picture of what's next — and how to keep the momentum alive long after the retreat ends. We wrap up by 1:00 PM, lighter than you arrived.
Why This Is Different
There is no shortage of stepmoms willing to share their story online. And while personal experience matters, it is not the same as expertise.
The Stepmom Retreat is led by Cameron Normand, founder of Stepfamily Solutions and the Stepfamily Coach Academy, the top certification program for stepfamily coaches. Her work is grounded in research, clinical frameworks, and direct collaboration with the top academics in the field. Cameron has co-authored peer-reviewed research on stepfamily dynamics, presents at professional counseling conferences, and is currently pursuing her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling — because the work of supporting stepmoms deserves clinical-level expertise, not just opinions on the internet.
She has reached more than 7,000 stepmoms through the Stepmom Summit, hosts a top 1.5% podcast for stepmoms, and has been featured in Newsweek, Business Insider, The Cut, Hello Magazine, Kiplinger, and CBS LA, among others. In short: she doesn't just understand stepmom life from living it. She understands it from studying it, building a research-backed certification program around it, and coaching thousands of women through the exact challenges you're facing right now.
When you leave Siesta Key, you won't just feel better. You'll understand why you feel the way you do — and you'll have the tools to do something about it.
Your Host
Hi, I'm Cameron.
My story may sound familiar. I married a wonderful man who came with four kids — including one with special needs. I expected a Rockwell painting. I got instant chaos instead.
I spent years feeling like I was failing at something I couldn't even name. Traditional advice didn't fit. Generic therapy made things worse. And I had no one around me who truly understood what stepmom life actually looked like from the inside.
So I got certified and went deep into the research. I built relationships with the top academics and experts in the stepfamily field. I founded the Stepfamily Coach Academy and built Stepfamily Solutions — where I've spent years coaching, teaching, and showing up for women navigating this life every day.
Before all of this, I spent 23 years in politics — on Capitol Hill, then leading policy strategy at two of the world's top movie studios. I hold a JD from Emory University School of Law, and I'm in the final stages of my Master's program to become a licensed therapist. I've co-authored peer-reviewed research on stepfamily dynamics, and I've been named one of the Washington Business Journal's "Women Who Mean Business."
I'm not just someone who's been through it. I'm someone who has spent years studying it, building a framework around it, and showing up for women living it. That's what I'll bring to Siesta Key.

Everything That's Waiting for You
"I'm a kid-free stepmom and I've spent years feeling like I didn't fit the dictionary definition. I left this retreat having found a community of women who affirmed me, exactly as I am."
— Emily, Retreat Attendee

— Christina, Retreat Attendee
Coming Solo?
Most women who come to The Stepmom Retreat arrive not knowing a single person in the room. That is not a problem. That is part of the design.
The experience is intentionally built to help connections unfold naturally — through shared meals, small group sessions, and the simple relief of being around women who don't need a long explanation before they understand.
You can come alone and still leave with people in your corner.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this retreat for? ▼
The Stepmom Retreat is open to anyone in a stepmom role — married, partnered, queer, straight, full-time, part-time, long-distance, childless, or anywhere in between. If you are in a relationship with someone who has children from a previous relationship, this retreat was built for you. All women are welcome here, and you do not need to have the official title of "stepmom" to belong.
When is the retreat and what are the exact times? ▼
The Stepmom Retreat takes place Friday, November 6th through Sunday, November 8th, 2026 at Siesta Sunset Sanctuary in Siesta Key, Florida. Arrival is at 3:00 PM ET on Friday, November 6th. We wrap up and say our goodbyes by 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, November 8th.
Where exactly is the retreat located? ▼
All retreat programming takes place at Siesta Sunset Sanctuary, a stunning private waterfront residence on the Gulf side of Siesta Key, Florida. It's just a 30-minute drive from Sarasota (SRQ) Airport. You can find it on the map HERE.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? ▼
Absolutely. We will do our best to accommodate all dietary needs when disclosed in advance. Siesta Sunset Sanctuary has a full kitchen on site, so if you have specific dietary requirements or need to keep particular foods on hand, we are happy to make that work. Just let us know ahead of time and we will plan accordingly.
How do I get there? Is there transportation? ▼
The closest airport is Sarasota (SRQ), about a 30-minute drive from the retreat location. Tampa (TPA) is also an option if you find better flight deals — just plan for about a 90-minute drive. We also recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment — Squaremouth.com is a great place to compare policies.
Transportation is not included, so we recommend renting a car or using a rideshare company like Uber or Lyft to get to your accommodations and to and from the retreat each day. Siesta Key is very rideshare-friendly, so getting around is easy!
Please note: parking at Siesta Sunset Sanctuary is very limited, so rideshare is strongly encouraged.
How many women will be at the retreat? ▼
The Stepmom Retreat is intentionally limited to just 10 stepmoms. This is a small, intimate experience by design — so that every woman in the room feels known, supported, and genuinely seen. When those 10 spots are filled, they're filled.
Can I bring a friend or my partner? ▼
You are absolutely welcome to bring someone along on your trip to Siesta Key — it's a beautiful place to explore! However, all retreat programming, meals, and activities at Siesta Sunset Sanctuary are reserved exclusively for ticketed attendees. Space is limited to 10 participants, and we want to protect the intimacy and safety of the experience for everyone in the room.
Do I need to know anyone before I come? ▼
Not at all. Most women who attend The Stepmom Retreat arrive not knowing a single person in the room — and leave with people they consider friends. The experience is intentionally designed to help connections unfold naturally through shared meals, small group sessions, and the kind of conversations that happen when everyone finally feels safe enough to be honest. Before the retreat, we'll also host live virtual get-togethers for all attendees — a great chance to get to know each other before you arrive. You may even find lodging buddies or carpool partners!
Will I have to share personal details in front of everyone? ▼
You will be invited into meaningful conversation and reflection, but you always get to participate in the way that feels right for you. Some women arrive ready to open up. Others need time to listen and ease in. Both are welcome. The goal is not to pressure anyone — it's to create an environment where you feel supported enough to be honest with yourself, and received without judgment if you choose to be honest with others.
Is there a payment plan? ▼
Yes! You can split your investment into 6 installments of $197.
What is the refund and cancellation policy? ▼
Retreat tickets are non-refundable once purchased. That said, we know life happens — if you're unable to attend, we're happy to help you transfer your ticket to someone on our waitlist. Once the transfer is complete, you'll receive a full refund of your ticket price, minus a $50 transfer fee. In the unlikely event that we don't meet our minimum attendance requirement by August 31st, 2026, we will notify you promptly and issue a full refund. If the retreat needs to be rescheduled due to circumstances beyond our control, your ticket will automatically transfer to the new date.
Are lodging and meals included? ▼
Overnight lodging is not included, but finding the right fit will be easy. Use the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce's Where to Stay directory to browse and filter accommodations for every budget — from beachfront condos to boutique resorts, all near the retreat location. Once you register, we'll also give you a curated concierge guide with a list of hotels and resorts that we like, among other things.
While you're with us, you'll have full access to the retreat property and all of its amenities throughout the event — just not the overnight accommodations.
As for meals, we'll provide a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages each day, along with a hosted group dinner. Other than that, you will be on your own — which also happens to be a great excuse to explore Siesta Key Village! Learn more about what Siesta Key has to offer here.
I've already tried therapy and read all the books. Why would this be different? ▼
The Stepmom Retreat isn't therapy and it isn't a book club. It's a research-backed coaching experience designed specifically for stepfamily dynamics, led by a coach who has spent years studying this exact landscape. Most therapy and most stepfamily content is built on first-marriage family models, which is part of why it doesn't fit your life. Cameron's work is built on the actual research about stepfamilies, not adapted from someone else's framework. You'll leave with tools that were designed for your life, not retrofitted to it.
What if I'm the only one without my own kids? Or the only one with my own kids? ▼
You won't be either, and even if the mix tilts one way, it doesn't matter. The hardest parts of stepfamily life — the loyalty binds, the ambiguous role, the loneliness, the second-guessing — are universal whether you have biological children or not. The women in this room will be there for the same reasons you are. The configuration of their family is not the thing that makes them get you. The fact that they're stepmoms is.
What if my situation feels too complicated or too unique to share? ▼
In a small group of stepmoms, "complicated" is the norm, not the exception. High-conflict ex. Estranged stepkids. A partner who doesn't get it. Bio kids in the mix. None of it will surprise the women in this room or the coaches leading it. Whatever you're carrying, someone here has carried something like it.
Still have questions? ▼

If something in you said "this is for me" somewhere on this page, trust that. The women who come to The Stepmom Retreat aren't the ones who had it all figured out. They're the ones who decided to stop waiting until they did.
